The young talents from the Tennis Academy Burgenland have caused a stir at international tournaments.
Flora Farkaslaki Hints wins ÖTV Youth Circuit Tournament in Oberpullendorf
Flora Farkaslaki Hints, the number one in her age group in Hungary, showed that she is a true fighter at the ÖTV Youth Circuit Tournament in Oberpullendorf. Starting as a qualifier, she won six consecutive games and thus claimed the tournament victory in the U18 girls’ category.
The tournament began for Farkaslaki Hints with a clear victory in the first game. She also managed to win the following two games. But then she faced Johanna Corciova, who gave her a tough time in the second set. Farkaslaki Hints fell behind in a tiebreak, but was able to demonstrate her fighting spirit and win the set. In the remaining rounds against ÖTV-contract player Sydney Stark and top-seeded Stella Horacek, the academy player prevailed and secured the tournament victory.
Thilo Behrmann wins two international U18 titles at the age of 15
Thilo Behrmann, a member of the Tennis Academy Burgenland, won his first international U18 titles at the age of only 15. At the ITF-J30 clay court event in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, he was able to secure the Week 1 victory thanks to a hard-fought win in the final against Chun-Chien Hou from Taiwan. Other Austrian participants also had success at the tournament. Constantin Neubauer, who is only 14 years old, reached the semifinals and earned his first ITF points.
Thilo also proved that he is a force to be reckoned with at his second tournament start in Ethiopia. After his first U18 victory, Behrmann also won the second event of the “Ethiopia International Junior Circuit” in Addis Ababa. With a clear 6-3, 6-0 final victory over Frenchman Victor Barreira Bonzom, Behrmann did not drop a set throughout the entire tournament.
Sebastian Beutel, Behrmann’s coach, was thrilled with his protégé’s performances and the success of the red-white-red tennis aces in Ethiopia. Jan Hemetzberger also contributed to the successful Austrian performances with a double semifinal.
Behrmann is currently ranked 691st in the ITF rankings, a pleasing result and important points for all players at the Tennis Academy Burgenland. With his impressive performances in Ethiopia, Behrmann has shown that he is a promising talent in Austrian tennis and that much can be expected from him in the future.
